St Ambrose College is a voluntary aided Roman Catholic boys’ grammar school in Hale Barns, Trafford. It was one of the last BSF schools in the country to be constructed under this scheme.
The overall aim was to deliver a high-class sustainable facility and provide a world-class environment. The building is in the shape of a Celtic cross and internally the design is captivating, incorporating a chapel at the heart of the college.
We worked closely with Balfour Beatty installing performing arts facilities to the main hall, an unusual domed circular auditorium used as a performance space and for assemblies.
We are due to return to St Ambrose to interview the Head and take pictures of the completed building, so look out for a case study soon.
For now, here’s a testimonial from Raj de Fonseka, Site Agent for the building contractors Balfour Beatty:
“As part of the project team at St Ambrose College, I can state that the works that they were involved with went very smoothly and were completed in a very professional manner. You had considered the various stages which your works involved and communicated this clearly to us so we knew when to call you when your next stage of work was due, avoiding damage and further costs. I am satisfied with the quality of service and products supplied and would recommend them.” (16.11.12)
